Previously the Georgia Department of Education provided comprehensive training for Instructional Coaches assigned to Priority Schools. But due to the redirecting of funds those training have gone away.

However, the need to have effective coaches in the schools to support and guide teachers has only increased. But for the coaches to have the greatest impact on their teachers they need to have the skills to efficiently impart their knowledge to the teachers.

That is what the Instructional Coach Academy will do.  It will give that strong teacher the skills to help their colleagues also achieve a level of excellence in the classroom.

This two day academy will address topics that include:  Working with adult learners; The Coaching Cycle; Planning for Standards Based Instruction; How to give teachers useful feedback.

The instruction will be engaging and interactive including role-play and plan development.  Online resources will be available to registered attendees.
